As the swim season progresses, I would like to remind you and your children about the importance of following proper behavior and safety guidelines during swim practice. We have rules in place to ensure everyone's safety, and it is crucial that everyone adheres to them.
Please remind your children of the expectations and to be considerate of their peers and coaches. We have noticed that some children are not being respectful towards their fellow swimmers and catching staff. With a large group of kids during practice, it's hard to speak over them all if they are talking at once.
Additionally, we want to remind everyone that running is not allowed around the pool area. This rule is in place for everyone's safety, and we ask that you enforce it at home as well.
Please make sure your children bring towels, goggles, swim caps (if needed), and water to drink. We do not provide these items during practice, and it's essential that everyone comes prepared.
In addition to the rules mentioned earlier, I would like to highlight some common pool etiquette surrounding swim team rules:
- Show up on time: Please make sure your child arrives at the pool on time for practice but we certainty understand this is not always possible.
- Be prepared: Encourage your child to bring all the necessary equipment and supplies, such as towels, goggles, swim caps, and water bottles. This helps keep the team organized and ensures that everyone can participate fully in practice.
- Stay focused: During practice, encourage your child to stay focused and attentive to the coaches' instructions. Avoid distractions such as bringing toys or other devices, as these can interfere with the team's progress.
- Respect others: Teach your child to be respectful to their fellow teammates, coaches, and parents. This includes listening to others, using appropriate language, and being kind and supportive.
- Keep the area clean: Please remind your child to clean up after themselves and not leave any trash or equipment lying around. This helps keep the pool area safe and clean for everyone to enjoy.
Lastly, it's essential not to interfere with the coaching staff during swim practice. As much as you believe you may be helping, it actually doesn't allow the coaches to fully have your child's attention. It can also confuse your child as to whom to listen to and what instructions to follow. Please trust that our coaching staff has your child's best interests in mind and is working hard to help them improve their skills and techniques in the pool. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to discuss them with the coaching staff at an appropriate time.
We are here to have fun, but we must do so within the rules and regulations that are in place. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Best regards,
Pedro Guerrero
