Fellow Parents,

We are excited to welcome you to the 2023 Newport Torpedoes Swim Season! Our coaches have been preparing for a great season and we can't wait to see our team come together for another amazing swim season.

Here are some important details about the upcoming season:

Rookie Camp: We will be hosting a Rookie Camp for all new members on Monday, April 17th, from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm. Once evaluated by the coaches and cleared, swimmers are free to go. If needed, more practice will be available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Ice Cream Social: On Friday, April 21st, from 6pm. We will be hosting an ice cream social at the pool. During this time, we will review how the season will go, and our coaches and board members will introduce themselves and answer any questions that parents may have. Please make sure to RSVP on the website.  https://npttorpedoes.swimtopia.com/

Volunteer Checks: We would like to remind all parents to bring their Volunteer Checks for $200 on Monday or Friday. Please note that this check will not be cashed and only be held until the end of the season. We need your time as volunteers, not your money.

Regular Team Practice: Team practice will begin on Monday, April 24th. All 8 and under swimmers should report to the first time slot, and they will be divided up for the remainder of the practices into A & B.

Practice Schedule (until the end of school)

Monday - Friday

8 yrs. and Under A 5:00:5:30

8 yrs. and Under B 5:30-6:00

9-10 yrs. 6-6:45

11-12 yrs. 6:45-7:30

13 yrs. and UP 7:30-8:30

Officials: We could still use a couple of new Swim Officials. As a bonus Swim Officials get 1/2-price swimmer after they are certified at the end of the season.

Starter Training: If any of the Stroke and Turn Officials would like to train up as a Starter this season, we will need one of those also to start their training soon.

Chocolate Fundraiser: The chocolate bar fundraiser should be available for pick up starting the first week of practice. We will keep you posted on new details.

Everyone who orders a custom suit also gets a free training suit. The training suits are a solid black color, while the custom suits have your team design; For an additional fee, swimmers can add their name to their competition suit.

Training suits will arrive 3-5 days after the order is received. Custom suits will arrive at the swimmers home within 3 weeks of placing the order.

I would like to emphasize the importance of parent volunteers as Swim Officials and during swim meets. Without our dedicated volunteers, we would not be able to have successful and safe swim meets for our children. Officials play a critical role in ensuring that the swim meets are conducted fairly, and the safety of our swimmers is maintained. They are responsible for ensuring that all swimmers follow the rules and regulations set by the league.

In addition to officials, we also need volunteers to help with timing, scoring, and other meet duties. Your participation is crucial to the success of our meets and the overall swim season. We understand that everyone has busy schedules, but just a few hours of your time can make a significant difference.

Please remember that our team depends on parent volunteers to function efficiently. Your time and dedication are greatly appreciated, and we thank you in advance for your support.
